Snow Fun In Flagstaff!

Although it is sunny and 20^O in downtown Flagstaff today, we’ve gotten a bit of new snow and there is a good likelihood of some more tomorrow and Saturday – just enough to keep the winter fun in the mountains rolling! The Arizona Snowbowl reports one inch of new snow in the last 24 hours with surface conditions “packed powder and hard pack.” You down-hillers will know what that means!

The Snowbowl is open every day this holiday season from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for skiing and snowboarding, but not other snowplay activities. The Coconino National Forest Service has opened several snow play areas near Flagstaff. Take Highway 180 northwest from downtown Flagstaff to reach them all. Follow these links for more information about Wing Mountain and Crowley Pit. Walker Lake (also known as the Kendrick Park Watchable Wildlife Area) is also open for snow fun.

The Flagstaff Nordic Center provides groomed trails for cross-country skiing. The Nordic Center also offers refreshments after your play in the forest service areas.

South of Flagstaff at Fort Tuthill County Park, snow-shoeing and cross-country skiing as well as snow play are permitted, but no sleds are allowed.
