This weekend you won’t be able to miss that Flagstaff is an part of the Old West. The <a title="Rodeo Website" href="http://www.pinecountryprorodeo.com/" target="_blank">Pine Country Pro Rodeo</a> is in town! They will be kicking up the dust at the Coconino County Fairgrounds Friday and Saturday nights and Sunday afternoon. Friday and Saturday gates open at 5 p.m. Performance begins at 7 p.m. Sunday gates open at noon. Members of the <a title="Flagstaff Symphony website" href="http://www.flagstaffsymphony.org/index.php" target="_blank">Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra</a> will bring delightful music to <a title="About Heritage Square" href="http://www.heritagesquaretrust.org/" target="_blank">Heritage Square</a>. The outdoor movie of the week is Wizard of Oz. The big event downtown on Saturday is the 25th annual <a title="Flagstaff Chili Cookoff" href="http://www.chilicookoff.com/Event/Event_Display.asp?EventID=2131" target="_blank">Route 66 Chili Cookoff</a>! Tasting kits become available starting at 10:30 a.m. The cost is $3 per kit and proceeds benefit <a title="Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Flagstaff" href="http://www.bbbsf.com/index.htm" target="_blank">Big Brothers/Big Sisters</a>. You’ll have the opportunity to taste and vote for your favorites chili prepared by over 20 members of the <a href="http://www.chilicookoff.com/">International Chili Society</a> and by Flagstaff local cookers. Traditional Red Chili, Chili Verde (Green Chili) and salsa are the three categories of competition, with each category schedule at different times throughout the day:<ul><li>11:00AM People’s Choice Chili </li><li>1:00PM Competition Chili Verde</li><li>3:00PM Competition Red Chili</li></ul>Crafts, music and a car display sponsored by the <a title="Route 66 Car Club" href="http://www.route66carclub.com/" target="_blank">Route 66 Car Club</a> round out the day. Highway 180 to FR 245; left to FR 171; to Lava Tube Walk Back Into Time -- 10:00am Lower Schultz Trailhead Help celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Civilian Conservation Corps with an original Arizona alumni. Hear about life as an enrollee from a former CCC member, then join Jane Jackson in an easy walk to the Schultz Pass camp and learn how the 3Cs helped change the face of Flagstaff. Highway 180 to Schultz Pass Road; trailhead just after the cattle guard where pavement ends</blockquote>If you are a Kachina Village resident, you won’t want to miss the Picnic in the Park, Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with County Supervisor Matt Ryan and other County leaders and community members. Learn about protecting <a title="Pumphouse Greenway" href="http://www.coconino.az.gov/parks.aspx?id=415" target="_blank">Pumphouse Greenway</a>. There will be kids activities, information booths, and free BBQ. This performance company was created in Flagstaff eleven years ago!</li></ul>Sunday night, enjoy Father’s Day Starfest at <a title="Lowell Observatory" href="http://www.lowell.edu/outreach/index.php" target="_blank">Lowell Observatory</a>. All fathers will be admitted for free. At 7 p.m., Lowell Observatory docent Howard Israel gives an indoor presentation, We're All Made of Stardust. In addition, there will be numerous telescopes set up for viewing throughout the Lowell campus.
