Flagstaff's art, theatre and science communities offer many exciting events March 7-9

Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra hosts the 4th and final competitor for Musical Director this Friday, and performs its sixth concert of a wonderful season. The guest conductor is <a title="Mr. Platt's website" href="http://www.alexanderplatt.com/" target="_blank">Alexander Platt</a>, who will lead the FSO in classical performance of music by Mendelssohn and Finnish composer Jean Sibelius and in selections for the modern, stirring Titanic Suite by James Horner. Among the films scheduled for Friday is the award-winning A River Reborn, about the reclamation of Fossil Creek. Many local Flagstaff residents can be recognized in the film, which is narrated by Ted Danson. Over 30 social, environmental, and adventure-related outdoor films from around the world will be screen at the Orpheum from March 6 through March 9. The play tells the story of so many women who have been murdered or simply disappeared in the streets of Juarez, Mexico, through the eyes of one mother searching for her missing daughter. First Friday Art Walk happens Friday from 6:30-9:00 p.m. in downtown Flagstaff. Soprano Eileen Strempel performs Saturday night at Ardrey Auditorium, beginning at 7:30 p.m.. The performance features musical settings for Margaret Atwood poetry, featuring works by women composers, including NAU faculty member, Judith Cloud.
