Community Meetings Tonight on Proposal for Grapevine Canyon Project

The following message is from Flagstaff resident Amy LeGere, Regional Development Manager, Foresight Wind Energy:You are invited to a community meeting to learn about a proposed wind energy project on Flying M Ranch in Coconino County and to provide public comment.Community Meetings are scheduled as follows: Thursday, October 11, 5:30 pm and 7:30 pm Northern Arizona University Applied Research & Development Building (ARD, Bldg #56) Parking is available in the Ramp, Bldg 96A after 5 pm or behind Cline Library P13For a map to the meetings, <a title="Map to parking and meeting sites at NAU" href="http://foresightwind.com/projects.html" target="_blank">click here.</a> Wind Project Information: The Grapevine Canyon wind project is a partnership of Foresight Wind Energy and Flying M Ranch. Based on the wind resource and power market, the project could generate up to 500 megawatts of clean energy for Arizona as early as 2009. The project could potentially be built in phases. If fully built out to 500 megawatts, the project would require between 200 and 335 turbines depending on the turbine nameplate capacity. This type of energy facility requires a Conditional Use Permit from the Coconino County Planning & Zoning Commission. As part of the permitting process, community meetings have been scheduled at 5:30 pm and repeating at 7:30 pm to educate and inform the public on the proposed development. An overview of the project will be presented and there will be an opportunity for public comment and questions. Public Comment ProcessThe Grapevine Canyon wind project will submit a written report to the Coconino County Community Development Department on any comments it receives.
