Flagstaff and the surrounding mountain areas received lots of snow last weekend and the ski and snow areas are raring to go this weekend. They’ve been busy all week with Flagstaffonians playing hooky to enjoy one of our best winters in many years. The Wing Mountain snow play area has an area dedicated to smaller children with smaller hills and moguls. Of course, there is plenty of room there for larger kids and adults as well. Here is the scoop on other snow play areas around Flagstaff: Snow Fun in Flagstaff. If you’re looking for indoor activities in Flagstaff, here are a few suggestions for the weekend: Visit the Museum of Northern Arizona where there are always great things to see. If you haven’t yet seen the exhibit featuring the newest and strangest dinosaur in all of North America, don’t miss it. THERIZINOSAUR – Mystery of the Sickle-Claw Dinosaur was developed by MNS researchers from a southern Utah excavation. Tours that are appropriate for all ages are available and included in the price of admission to the museum. The deep, on-going rivalry between Northern Arizona University and Montana State will continue Saturday at Lumberjack Stadium when the men’s basketball teams meet for the sixth match-up in two years. The game begins at 4:35 p.m. Saturday afternoon. (Photo at the right pictures NAU player vs. Montana, which happened Thursday. As one of my friends pointed out, there is a difference between Montana and Montana State!)
RSVP for this free entertaining and educational event at Riordan Mansion State Park: Grand Obsession: Harvey Butchart And The Exploration Of Grand Canyon This will be an evening slide presentation by the authors, Elias Butler and Tom Myers. Butchart carefully documented all of these explorations in logbooks, which led to the first Grand Canyon backcountry guidebooks. 7:00 p.m. Saturday night. 928.779.4395 to reserve your spot.
