| August 24, 2007 | | Here Are Some Ideas for Things to Do in Flagstaff This Weekend | A few isolated thundershowers are predicted for the weekend in Flagstaff – probably just enough to keep us cool and comfortable! Here are some things to do:
Friday night:
- Enjoy an evening of Irish music at Cline Library Auditorium, NAU. Living Traditions Presentations brings us a band called Grada, a group that has received awards and reviews that include them in Irish music super groups. Auditorium doors open at 7:30 pm, performance is at 8:00.
- Movies on the Square (at Heritage Square, downtown) presents: Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties
Saturday morning: Take a Wildflower Walk at the Arboretum. Beginning at 9:30 a.m. for two hours, Dr. Gwendolyn Waring will help you identify native wildflowers in bloom, and their pollinators. Free with Flagstaff Arboretum admission price. Saturday Late Afternoon: Heritage Square Trust’s Summer Concert Series presents: Burnett Family Bluegrass. Sunday: Take a Self-Guided Arizona Native Plant Field Trip in the Greater Flagstaff area. Pick up a map of garden locations at the Flagstaff Visitors Center (train depot downtown). Fifteen gardens will be open for viewing between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm. Sponsored by Arizona Native Plant Society, Flagstaff Chapter and Flagstaff Xeriscape Council. Tour sites will be marked with yard signs. Gardeners will be at home to greet visitors and show their gardens.
Sunday: Shop at the Flagstaff Community Market from 8 am to noon. A local farmers market featuring a wide range of products from local growers and producers including fruits, vegetables, eggs, baked goods, cheese, jams, salsas, flowers, plants, and more. Occasional chef demos and music. Located on west Phoenix Ave just east of Milton Rd (Rt 66) and just west of of S. Beaver St. Sunday afternoon: 2-4 pm, Heritage Square Trust’s Summer Concert Series presents: Jacqui Forman
