Things to Do in Flagstaff This Weekend -- Lots!

Comedy, music and art will fill downtown Flagstaff and the NAU campus this weekend
About this Flagstaff event

This will be a quite busy weekend in Flagstaff. I’m excited about The Comedy of Errors, which is opening this weekend. I am headed to the dress rehearsal Thursday night at the Doris Harper White Theatre in downtown Flagstaff. I recommend the Theatrikos performance to anyone looking for an evening filled with laughter – just look at the graphic they chose and you’ll start to laugh!

For musical theater, NAU offers The Threepenny Opera on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. For jazz and rock fans, this musical was the origin of Mack the Knife – a song I remember from my youth, without knowing it was related to The Threepenny Opera. Sunday’s performance is preceded by a panel discussion by faculty from NAU’s College of Arts and Letters at Ashurst Auditorium, 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.  Lunch will be included in the price for the Ashurst presentation. For tickets call 928/523-5661.

NAU’s drama students present Catholic School Girls, a satire of Catholic school life in the 1960s, on Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday afternoon at the Clifford White Studio Theatre on the NAU campus in Flagstaff.

Friday night, Flagstaff’s First Friday Artwalk, rolls out with over thirty galleries in downtown Flagstaff. Come downtown around 6 p.m. and nibble your way through the art displays in historic downtown Flagstaff. This event is popular year-round and is guaranteed to fill the streets tomorrow evening.

Lowell Observatory has a special Space Art exhibit on display and available during all of Lowell’s public viewing times. Go in the evening for telescope viewing!

Trumpet fans will not want to miss Emery Harvison from the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra at the Federated Community Church at 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.

If you like to tour Flagstaff homes, this week’s RE/MAX-sponsored open house tour is in the northwest quadrant of the city (Coconino Estates, Cheshire, and downtown Flagstaff). Watch for a detailed posting tomorrow in our real estate blog channel.

If you take a hike in the forests or parks around Flagstaff, be especially cautious if you see unusual wild animal behavior!
