| February 20, 2009 | | Flagstaff community groups have an active weekend planned for us all – here are Ann’s picks for Flagstaff events this weekend | From my earlier post this week, you already know about two big events in Flagstaff this weekend: Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra tonight and Night at the Oscars on Sunday.
Also Friday night will be a great night at the Weatherford Hotel in downtown Flagstaff, where Flagstaff Friends of Traditional Music will host its 15th Annual Cowboy Campfire with performances by Tony Norris, Bill Vernieu and Warren Miller.
On a more serious note, Flagstaff’s faith-based and GLBT communities will come together tomorrow night at the First Federated Church in downtown Flagstaff for a showing of For the Bible Tells Me So, winner of the Audience Award for Best Documentary at the Seattle International Film Festival and several other awards. The provocative and entertaining documentary brilliantly reconciles homosexuality and Biblical scripture. Reception begins Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. with the film screening at 7 p.m. and a panel discussion to follow.
The weather should be beautiful on Sunday for the Flagstaff Assistance League’s 16th Annual Snowball Slide on Leroux Street from Elm to Cherry. Plastic numbered “snowballs” are poured into a concrete mixer and released down a shoot. The first 21 balls to reach the terminator win prizes. First prize is $2,009. Noon–1:30 p.m. Call 928-779-3029 for questions.
If you'd like to check out some Flagstaff houses, there is an open house tour mid-day Saturday: RE/MAX Peak Properties Open House Tour.
Have a great weekend! | |
