| October 16, 2008 | | Music, Fall Festivals, Drama and Athletic Events Fill the Weekend in Flagstaff | The featured event of the weekend in Flagstaff comes Friday night with the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra’s second performance of the season at Audrey Auditorium on the Northern Arizona University campus. Flutist Marina Piccinini will perform John Corigliano’s Pied Pier Fantasy. The orchestra will perform a Disney fans’ favorite The Sorcerer's Apprentice and selections from Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer’s Night’s Dream. David Commanday will guest conduct. The Flagstaff High School Production of Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory has been so well received that the show has been extended for a third weekend and will run through this weekend. The show is Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Tickets are available at the door. Adults: $8 Children(12&under): $6 Matinees (2p): Adults: $6 Children(12&under): $4. Bring a non-perishable food item for $1 off admission price! Food will be donated to Northern Arizona Food Bank.
Saturday and Sunday feature fall festivals in two Flagstaff locations:
- Warner’s Nursery 14th Annual Fall Festival offers a petting zoo provided by the 4H Club of Flagstaff (Saturday only), pony rides, llamas, children’s arts and crafts, a Halloween costume contest, face painting, and a hay maze. The Warner’s staff will offer a bake sale with all proceeds going to the Second Chance Center for Animals. Adorable puppies and dogs will be on site and available for adoption. Pizza by Fratelli, hot drinks from It’s About Coffee, fine candy from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and other delicacies will be available for sale. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
- The Flagstaff KOA campground will be open to the community on Saturday and Sunday for its Fall Festival and Flea Market, which will feature hay rides and a pumpkin patch.

Saturday night, you can enjoy an evening of Indian Classical Music at Ashurst Auditorium on the NAU campus. The performance begins at 7:30 p.m.
