There are many big events in Flagstaff this weekend! The weather is predicted to be hot, sunny, and dry – so bring your sunscreen and lots of water to any event over this fine weekend in Flagstaff. There will be more daylight in Flagstaff and the rest of the northern hemisphere than any other day of the year – it’s summer solstice weekend – with over 14 hours of daylight each day. Stock up on native plants in preparation for the coming (we hope) Flagstaff monsoon season. The Arboretum at Flagstaff holds its annual Plant Sale and Garden Fair Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Members of the Arboretum can attend the pre-sale introductory event Friday from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. and have the opportunity to purchase the “pick of the crop” from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday night at Heritage Square you can hear Celtic music at dusk followed by the open-air movie Flushed Away at sunset. On Saturday and Sunday afternoons and evenings, at the same venue, attend the Flagstaff Music Festival, featuring local talent. Don’t miss the free Block Party on Saturday afternoon! Here's a full description in yesterday's blog post: Block Party on Flagstaff's Grandview Avenue Saturday. If you are looking for music on a smaller scale, stop by McPherson Park, 1650 N. Turquoise, Flagstaff, on Sunday afternoon from 4 p.m. to 5:15 p.m., enjoy the Flagstaff Community Band. We’re in the last month for the Museum of Northern Arizona exhibit featuring Flagstaff adventure photographer Dawn Kish, Grand Archaeology: New Excavations along the Colorado River. The exhibit is featured during Archaeology Awareness Month, at the Museum of Northern Arizona in Flagstaff. The exhibit documents recent archaeological excavation and research in Grand Canyon National Park, conducted by MNA in partnership with Grand Canyon National Park. The exhibit is made possible through the generous support of the Grand Canyon Association. Saturday and Sunday, Wheeler Park and various other venues around town will host the annual Pride in the Pines Festival. Visit the Pride website for details on entertainment, exhibits, and schedule and location. Granny’s Closet will hold an event Launch Party Friday night beginning at 8 p.m. Have a great week-end!
