 Take in the Jazz Madrigal Festival this Saturday and Sunday with events at a variety of locations on the Northern Arizona University campus and around Flagstaff. More than 120 high school voice ensembles from Arizona, California, New Mexico, Utah and Nevada will gather in Flagstaff this weekend and join with NAU resident choral performers as well as guest performers from the Midwest to create a great chorus weekend in Flagstaff. Saturday night, at 7:30 p.m., don’t miss the concert at Audrey Auditorium with NAU’s own Shrine of the Ages Choir, directed by Edith Copley, director of choral studies, and Cantus, a nine-member male vocal ensemble from Minneapolis. Tickets are $8.50 for students and children ages 5-17, $12.50 for adults and are available through the Central Ticketing Office at (928) 523-5661.
In addition, the NAU Vocal Jazz Ensemble will perform free concerts at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9 and Sunday at Ardrey Auditorium. Throughout the weekend, there will performances at other locations around campus.
Madrigal choirs also will perform traditional choral music at Shepherd of the Hills Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Federated Community Church and the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Flagstaff. These free performances will be from 8 a.m. to 4:20 p.m. Feb. 9 and from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Feb 10.
