Green Homes Project Featured in Flagstaff

U.S. Green Building Council Platinum-Certifed Home Will Be On Display in Bellemont AZ on Tuesday

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) certifies buildings based on a stringent rating system that recognizes design and construction processes that minimize negative impact on the environment. Platinum is the highest rating and gold is also better than nothing, as far as our world is concerned. Many of us living in Flagstaff pay special attention to new “green” developments. One of our green local businesses will present the first Platinum home to our community on Tuesday, August 21.

The home is built by Architectural & Environmental Associates, Inc. (AEA), which also provides wind and solar power solutions in the Flagstaff area. Architect Carl Ramsey is one of the principals of AEA, and, incidentally, is working with one of my clients to build a home in Flagstaff that I expect will be a spectacular example of what a green home can be.

Meanwhile, the first USGBC-certified Platinum Home in the area will be on display near Bellemont, Arizona (just west of Flagstaff) on Tuesday as part of the meeting of the Northern Arizona branch of the Arizona Chapter of USGBC.  I believe registration for the event closed last Thursday, but if you are interested in attending the chapter meeting or the tour of the home, call the number on this meeting registration form and check it out. If you can’t attend, check back at this blog later in the week for a report on how it all went. I’ll be there.
